Kicking

We have an exciting development! Baby Rez has started kicking! It started around the end of week 16, and took me a while to be sure that’s what I was feeling. I’ve heard it described as a flutter. I guess that’s what it feels like, but sometimes it also feels like a poke, or a little mouse living inside of me shifting around.

I’ve tried to get Dave to feel it, but the kicks are hard to predict. Dave described it like fishing without bait. He waits and waits for him to kick. Even if he did kick when Dave’s hand was on my belly, I think it’s still hard to feel from the outside. Hopefully he’ll feel it soon.

My bump is also growing. I’ve told the important people now, so I don’t feel like I have to hide it anymore. I’m realizing everyone likes a pregnant woman. I rarely bring up the baby when I’m at work, but that doesn’t stop people from asking me how he’s doing. Don’t they want to talk about work? I like my bump—it makes the pregnancy feel more real, but it certainly makes bending over a chore; putting on socks is so hard, and I’m not even half way there!
