baby Gummy Bear

We switched to Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) so we could deliver at Stanford/Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. We had our first ultrasound there yesterday. Our OB, Dr. Karl is very nice and has been delivering babies for 20+ years. She assured us that this is the place we want to be in case of complications or heaven forbid Baby Rez needs help. The hospital is in the process of being rebuilt. While the fancy private rooms are a few years off, the doctors have a wealth of medical knowledge and state of the art technology. What the heck is a semi-private room though? They’re either private or their not, right? I guess we’ll find out when we tour the facilities later on.

We got to see the baby again. Dr. Karl said everything looked good and we measured 1.23 inches which is estimated to be 10 weeks (we’ll be 10 weeks in another 3 days). Dave and I refer to last week as the turtle week, and this week Baby Rez looks more like a gummy bear.

I’m still nauseous, especially at night, but it does seem to be more bearable (or maybe I’ve just gotten used to it). The moments when I do feel fine, I worry that something has gone wrong though, so the nausea is a mixed blessing. I’ve been living off bagels and cream cheese and firecracker popsicles. They aren’t quite as sweet as the fruit pops (probably less healthy though) and have been my favorite treat.

I am counting down the days until we’ll tell the rest of our family. Jessie is the only one in on our secret right now. I wanted her to know we were pregnant too, so we could go through this together.
