First Few Days Home

The day we left the hospital, I thought about nine months ago, when I wondered if we would ever have a family. Now here we were walking out of the hospital with the best gift we would ever receive—a son.

It felt good to be home. We missed Daisy terribly—our fur baby. We didn’t know how she would react to a new baby, but she was interested, gentle and followed us around from room to room. I would catch her sitting beside his crib just watching him and listening to his coos. She’s a great big sister.

We still had to return to the doctor’s office almost every day the first week . Baby Boy Rez had some jaundice which I knew was common, but still scary. He was close to the threshold of needing treatment, but with lots of feeding, we managed to avoid going under the bili lights. By the day of his bris, his bilirubin levels had come down to almost normal.

With feedings every 2-3 hours, we hardly got any sleep. However, I had so much adrenaline, I didn’t feel as tired as I should have. Baby Boy Rez however slept like a champ—and he slept with his eyes open and smiled in his sleep. This created the perfect opportunity for me to take some adorable photos of him. IMG_6276 IMG_6419 IMG_6587IMG_6684IMG_6699
