It’s barely been a month since Ethan has been born, but there are a few things I have learned already in no particular order.
- I can function surprisingly well on very little sleep
- My baby is stronger than I am. Just try swaddling him when he is angry.
- The amount that comes out always seems like more than went in. This applies to vomit, poop and pee.
- The cuter the outfit, the more likely Ethan is to spit up on it.
- The overtired cry is the worst. I don’t understand all Ethan’s cries yet, but this one is by far the most upsetting.
- Instant way to get baby to sleep: a ride in the car or in the baby carrier.
- Sleep, having a clean house, eating and caring for an infant can not all happen at once. Pick two.
- Bathing babies is fun. I love seeing my little man so relaxed in the tub—that is, until you try and take him out.
- Spending a lot on fancy toys does not mean your baby will like it. Case in point: the mamaroo baby bouncer. It’s fancy, pricy and Dave thought it was really neat. While Ethan doesn’t hate it, he prefers the baby swing we got him for a quarter of the price.
- I just don’t have enough time in the day to take photos, and edit and post them. See #7. Thankfully my camera has wifi so I can upload/post directly. So if you see some photos on facebook or instagram that could use a little touching up, just know I was being lazy and had no time to tinker in photoshop.
