Most of the time Ethan communicates with one syllable versions of words or by pointing and saying “that.” Even though he doesn’t always use them, he knows a lot of words. I recently figured out he knows enough to follow simple instructions. Here are a few of our favorite tricks:
1. Go pick out a book. He also knows bring the book to mommy, give the book to daddy and turn the page.
2. Turn on/off the light. (He’s been doing this one for a while).
3. Go get your shoes. He attempts to put them on too, but shoes are hard!
I know these are all developmentally appropriate tasks, but I do think Ethan is incredibly smart. Now we just need to work on “put away the toys” and “don’t throw food on the floor.”
