Little Explorer

I used to spend what seemed like all day trying to get this kid to nap. He really needed naps and just didn’t want to fall asleep! I would have to plan my days around getting him to nap. Now we have a pretty solid nap routine and while Ethan still needs his naps, I now spend my days looking for activities to keep him busy.

He will happily taste every condiment bottle from our fridge, pull out all our Tupperware and paddle in Daisy’s water, but those are not exactly the things I want him doing.

Lately we’ve been spending a lot of time outside because that’s where Ethan loves to explore and I’d rather have messes outside.

In no particular order, his favorite activities are:

  • Digging in the sand and water table
  • Drinking water from the water table or pool
  • Exploring the yard (he’s really interested in flower pots, the trash cans, the tool shed, the veggie garden.
  • Picking fruit (ripe or not) from our trees
  • Swinging (usually when he’s tired)
  • Wading in the kiddie pool
  • Drinking from the hose (I blame Daisy for teaching him this)

Sometimes Ethan will play happily by himself, but he usually wants me to follow him around, which is a good thing. It makes sure I keep a close eye on him, but also means it’s difficult to accomplish anything I need done.
